Jephthah: Faith Through Conflict

  • Dr. Brian Nall
  • 11 listens

In the book of Judges we find the record of Jephthah; an often overlooked man who served as Judge over Israel for 6 years. His story is squeezed in between Gideon and Samson in the 10th chapter of Judges. Jephthah was the son of a prostitute and his father Gilead was a leader in the area. Gilead's wife had 2 sons who grew to hate Jephthah because he was not their real brother and they didn't want him to have any part of their inheritance; therefore, they drove him away. Jephthah fled to a neighboring city where he met up with a group of adventures who joined together and Jephthah became an ancient day Robin Hood with his not-so-merry-men. Jephthah grew in faith through conflict.
