He was a man of remarkable vision and talent, but no one seemed to notice. There are those that discounted his talent, but this only served to empower him. He was fired from a newspaper job because they said he had no ideas. He had a dream, but there seemed no way that he would be able to achieve it. He found work doing advertising art for a church. He lived in the church’s mouse infested garage. One of these mice inspired Walt Disney to pursue his dream. Dreams are part of all of our lives. They are necessary for progress and to advance in life. In our text, Joseph recounted his dreams to his family. His brothers hated him for his dreams and his father rebuked him. Nevertheless, Joseph’s dreams came to pass. Between the dream and its fulfillment, there was a lot that Joseph did not see. He did not see the hatred of his brothers or the rejection in his life. He didn’t see prisons and problems and trouble that would be set him between the dream and it’s coming to fruition. Like Walt Disney, Joseph didn’t lose sight of his dream and continued to work toward it. The hidden parts of the dream of both men were instrumental in the ultimate fulfillment of it in their lives. Bro. Hughes advises our graduates to not lose sight of their dream. There will be those that will laugh at our dreams, there are those that will attempt to discourage out dreams, but nevertheless, we have to continue to work toward those dreams. The key to Joseph’s dream was that he never lost sight of the promise that God had given him. It all depends upon whose hands it is in. If we keep our lives in God’s hands, He will work to our good in achieving our dreams.
