So often in life we blame others for what is missing or has gone wrong in our life. The truth is that our destiny is never in somebody else’s hand. Some people blame all their failures on the actions of others. In our text, Jesus is at the wedding in Cana of Galilee where there was not enough wine. The mother of Jesus tells the servants “Whatever He tells you to do, do it.” At this point, the servants had a choice. They could blame the failure to have enough wine on others, or complain that someone else had failed. Or they could choose to act and be obedient to the word of God. Their obedience was the key to their salvation. The problem was not of their making. Someone else had made a mistake, however the key to salvation was their obedience to God. In the story of Noah and the ark, God told Noah that He was going to destroy the world and gave him a course of action. It was up to Noah to take his salvation into his hands and act on the word of God. If he had not obeyed, he and his family would have perished. God had determined it, but it was up to Noah to act. Sometimes our salvation is in the simple act of obedience. Obedience is better than sacrifice. It does not matter what you place on the alter, it means nothing if you are not willing to be obedient to God. There are people whose happiness is determined by what others are saying are doing. We are the only ones who can decide if we are happy. We are as happy as you want to be. Our destiny is in our hands
