In this installment of our series on the images of Jesus, we consider how images of Christ, especially during the 19th and 20th centuries have tended to feminize Jesus and made him to look like a woman. While there is certainly nothing wrong with picturing Jesus relating well to women or having an effeminate side, one of the by-products of picturing Jesus this way is that he is nonconfrontational and passive. The Jesus many of us picture is going to just go along with everything as it is. In this message, we challenge this concept of Jesus and see him instead as the Jesus who would call a disciple Satan and the Pharisees snakes.
