Is there any doubt that the authority of Jesus is indeed from heaven...from God? There is no doubt. John the Baptist was indeed a prophet of God, but was nothing himself compared to Christ. If they accept John, they must accept Christ as from heaven. But since they hate Christ, they do not want to acknowledge Him. They do not want Him as their Sovereign. They do not want Him as their Lord.
