Christmas is indeed a magic time of wonder and joy, but it's not because of sparkling jewelry or the latest toys. Magnify that times ten. It's about a baby. The wonder, joy, and awe of birth is what the Christmas season (Advent) is all about. Amp that up another ten notches because this isn't just any baby, it's the "wonderful counselor," "prince of peace," "almighty God," "of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end." You can't really top that. The church could really be called an expecting family, as we celebrate the gift we enjoy now in part and anticipate experiencing in full - the coming of our beloved savior, friend, and king!
