Abuse it and Lose it Part II

God who is creator of Heaven and Earth gave Adam and his descendants dominion over the earth to take care of it and posses it. As man spread throughout the earth, God gave Abraham the Land of Canaan- the land we know today as Israel. God said to Abraham: To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, Euphrates (Genesis 15:18). Israel would have to posses the land by faith and be good stewards of the Lord by honoring God and following His commands, or Israel would be extracted from the land just as the Amorites were extracted before them. God gave Israel this land just as He gave Lot and his descendants the hill country of Ar (Deuteronomy 2:9), and Esau and his descendants the hill country of Seir (Deuteronomy 2:5). Israel sinned and rebelled against God, so God exiled them for 2,500 years and let the land lay desolate. God said: And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me (Ezekiel 39:23). As the times of the end draw near God said: For I will take you (Israel) out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back to your own land (Ezekiel 36:24). This prophecy was literally fulfilled on March 14, 1948. We are living witnesses to some of the greatest prophecies being fulfilled in our lifetime. But just as God deals with nations and his children Israel so God likewise deals with us- His children. We must be faithful and obedient to Him or we may lose what He has blessed us with. Saul was made King over all of Israel yet it was torn from Him because of His disobedience. In the story that Jesus told about the Talents- the servant who was fulfilled with possessions of God was blessed abundantly and given more. But to them who were unfaithful, Jesus said: Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents (Luke 28:28). Our spouse, children, job, health, and all that we have are blessings from God and we must honor Him with it or we risk losing it all. God wants to bless us and teach us about His divine nature through the things He has given to us. It is through loving our neighbor how God teaches us to love Him.
