Joseph"s life up to this point has been a series of up"s and down"s. Born his fathers FAVORITE SON; he enjoys a life of pampered pleasure. This is turned upside down when his brothers who hate him plot his demise. They strip him of his royal robe and throw him into a pit. Ultimately they sell him into slavery for a profit ridding themselves of him and his dreams. Joseph the FORESAKEN SIBLING has now been reduced into a piece of property, far from his plush life. When we next find Joseph; he is a FAITHFUL SERVANT in Potiphar"s house. The author of the story finally attests to God"s presence in verse 2, “the Lord was with Joseph”. God shows up and his presence is felt/shown/ and known in Joseph"s protection and promotion in Egypt. Joseph the FAITHFUL SERVANT • God"s Presence is felt as he provide Joseph with SHELTER IN THE SLAVE MARKET- The Ishmaelites sell him to Potiphar; Pharaoh"s chief body guard. • God"s Presence is seen in SUPPORT AS A SLAVE- Everything Joseph did prospered. • God"s Presence is known and Joseph has SUCCESS AS A SERVANT- Because God favored Joseph, he was promoted up the ranks, by his master.
