God asks Hosea to marry Gomer in order to compare her sin to the sin of Israel in worshiping other gods. Is this a fair comparison or does it go too far? What are some of the other gods we pursue and worship in our culture? Have you ever thought of those pursuits as adultery against God? Why or why not? Are there times when your sin makes you feel that you are “not going to receive compassion,â€� or “not Godâ€"s child?â€� How do you counter those feelings? Can the message of Hosea help you in these situations? What do you learn about Godâ€"s response to our sin by looking at Hoseaâ€"s response to Gomer? Can God truly love us even when we have abandoned Him to worship someone or something else?
