The author of Genesis is affirmed in the New Testament book of Hebrews, that, by faith, Enoch “walked with God.” If you took an objective look at your life right now, are you living by faith in God or faith in something else? What else do you put trust in? What is an area of your life where you need to walk with God in faith right now? What will it look like for you to do that? What are some things you could do that would improve your faith as you go through this? The author of Hebrews made a bold statement by writing that “without faith it is impossible to please God. For he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb. 11:6). What is your response to that statement? Are there ways other than faith that you try to “please God”? And, are those ways necessarily wrong ways to please Him? Think about how your faith and your actions tie together. Are there actions you do for God in which you exercise little or no faith? Are these actions pleasing to God? For deeper study: Read the letter written by James in the New Testament. Specifically, pay attention to James 2v14-26. Our works do not save us, but what is the relationship between our faith and our works?
