3rd sermon on January virtue of Determination - deciding it's worth it to finish what you started. (252 Basics) Living with "No Excuses" means we must overcome temptation, in order to (Big Idea) "Keep doing what you should do because God says you can." !Cor 10 offers 2 perspectives: 1) the REALITY of temptation. To overestimate ourselves or minimize danger could be fatal in life & in spiritual life--we are all tempted by the same kids of temptations. If we accept the reality of temptation, we become always watchful. 2) the RESOURCES in temptation. To trust the faithful God (vs.13) is to know him and follow him... If you receive him, you lear God is faithful to limit temptation, and faithful to provide a way out. It may not be how you feel or what you see, but knowing you are protected and there is a way out... you become hopeful. Resiting temptation may be a decision between life and death, a split second decision to trust the truth that may affect others for generations.
