One of the greatest fears we have in life is that of being rejected or abandoned by someone we love. The fear of being rejected leads us to operate out of guilt rather than out of love, for we are afraid of losing the one we love if we fail to do what they want or please them. But what about our relationship with God? Do we need to fear that we might do something, say something, in some way fail God that would result in God revoking our adoption papers and throwing us out of the family? Once a person trusts Christ for their salvation, do they need to fear that they might lose that salvation? This sermon answers the question, Can another person cause you to lose your salvation? It concludes that if God is for us-- and He is-- then who can be against us? It seeks to alleviate the fears we might have that God will leave us and forsake us. In this sermon, we learn the meaning of the unpardonable sin and the sin that leads to death-- and we see that as believers in Christ we have nothing to fear for we are held securely by Christ in His hands, and Christ's hands are securely in His Father's. No one can pry us out of his hands.
