Part of the portrait that God paints of us is that we are now Sons in His family. Bu there is much confusion in this world as to the relationship of God to man. Many believe that everyone is God's child and thus everyone has a fatherly relationship with God. All religions worship the same God for we are all God's children. This sermon explores the three-fold connection man has with God-- first as the offspring of God. Everyone relates to God as their creator-- the source of physical life. But not everyone is a child of God, for we become children of God through regeneration-- the new spiritual birth. And as spiritually reborn individuals, we become sons of God through Adoption-- which brings us into a permanent familial relationship with God with benefits. One of the benefits is that we are given the family spirit-- the Holy Spirit-- who bears witness with our spirit that we are indeed children of God. And the most profound thought that we can think is that Jesus loves me.
