Ephesians 5:21 acts as an umbrella verse, regarding a husband and wife's relationship, and commands us to "Submit to one another out of reverance for Christ." Mutual sumbmission comes by dying to one's self in order to reflect Christ's relationship with the church, in which they are one. This submission, or giving up one's rights for the sake of the other, is essential for meeting each other's needs. This passage illustrates men's need for respect and women's need for love.
