The work of the Spirit at Christmas begins before Jesus when John the Baptist is filled "even from birth." In John, the Spirit began turning people back to God. As the Spirit continues to work in His people today, the question for us is, "How do we receive Him?" Like Zechariah, with doubt and resistance? Like Elizabeth, receiving a gift? Or like John - receiving the Spirit as a little child only to later find out what that would mean for his life?
