The Sunday after Pentecost is Trinity Sunday and fittingly today's sermon was entitled "Holy, Holy, Holy." For the Bible lesson Pastor Betsy Ouellette drew on the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:16-20. The pastor said that we worship a Triune God and to "understand the Trinity is to understand love." She referred to the Council of Nicea, in 325 AD, in which 250 Bishops agreed that Jesus is co-eternal with God the Father, and the Holy Spirit as they are three persons in one. She said that it is incorrect to say that God created us because He was lonely and needed companionship. God is complete and we were created because God is love and through the creation He shared His love. The Heavenly Father gave us His Son Jesus and in dying on the cross He gave us the Holy Spirit.
