The Principles of Life and Death

  • Dr Eller
  • 16 listens

Paul invites us to engage in mental warfare in Romans. The Long War is won or lost here. We get to choose what we think about. This strategy permeates Paul's own thinking and writing. The word Paul uses here is the Greek word for intellect, no us, which covers the ideas ofthought, feeling, understanding, will, and the mind per se. This section, chapters 8 through 12, begins with the intellectual struggle for the soul in chapter 8, and culm nates with the strategic reminder in chapter 12: 1-2, that the Long War is won or lost intellectually, "Do not be conformed to the pattern of the pagan world, but be transformed by the renewing of your nous, by which you will be able to make better choices and discover God's will for your life ... ". We are engaged in serious mental warfare.
