Isaac looks at 1 John 1:5-1John 2:11 as one unit in which the Apostle John explores that "God is light" and that only born again people can have light. The process of our salvation through Christ Jesus continues to illuminate who is really our father before our born again nature is awakened by the Holy Spirit. Since we live in a fallen world, we do continue to sin but as born again people, we understand that we hate sin now and the Father has given Jesus to us as an advocate when the accuser accuses us in front of our Father. This is truty good news, indeed!
