Advent Thoughts on Noah's Ark

  • John Rallison, Pastor
  • 24 listens

In the account of Noah and the Flood, we see that God is faithful to his promises. People walk away from God. God does not break faith with people. As we move through the Advent season, preparing to celebrate the first coming of Christ, we remember that we live in the large Advent season, awaiting the second coming of Christ. The faith that Noah had in God manifested itself in Noah's willingness to build an ark on Dry land. Faith is a willingness to follow God's ways when they don't necessarily make sense or seem prudent. How do we remain faithful like Noah as we live our lives? How to we "build our boat" as we bank on God's faithfulness? Follow God's Word. In many places the Bible tells us how to live lives of faith. Last Sunday we briefly looked through the Beatitudes (from Matthew 5). We remain faithful to God as we live our lives humbly. We mourn the brokenness of the world rather than becoming complacent. We bear with other people in the patience that comes from strength in Christ. We long for righteousness, both in the world and in ourselves. We show mercy to those around us. We live as peacemakers.
