Please turn with me in your Bibles to the Gospel of Luke. For todays scripture, we are going to be reading Luke chapter 10, verses 25-37. In this scripture we are going to begin with today, Luke writes to us, telling us about a conversation that took place between Jesus and an expert of the law. While Jesus was teaching one day, this expert of the law stood up and began testing Him with a series of questions in front of other people. He began by asking him how to obtain eternal life. He himself was asked by Jesus to explain the law as he understood it. And then the expert asks an interesting question that echoes even to this day and that is: “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus responds to him with a parable and ends with instruction that we should all learn to follow, instruction we can follow throughout our lives.
