Please turn with me in your Bibles to the New Testament letter of 2nd Timothy. For todays scripture, we are going to be reading 2nd Timothy chapter 4, verses 1 - 8. The Apostle Paul had written two different letters to Timothy in order to encourage him, to instruct him and guide him, and also to warn him of the things he would be facing as he continued in the ministry and as he continued leading the Church over in Ephesus. We talked a lot about the 1st letter to Timothy back in the month of September, and now today, we will be pushing further into 2nd Timothy, more towards the end of the letter. By now, as Paul writes this 2nd letter, he knows that his life is coming to an end. He knows that his ministry is coming to an end. And what he is doing is giving Timothy that final instruction and encouragement that he needs to persevere and to keep the church moving forward after he is gone. What the Apostle Paul is doing here, is passing the torch… Listen closely as we begin our message today with this scripture from 2nd Timothy 4, 1-8.
