Please turn with me in your Bibles to the New Testament book of Ephesians. For todays scripture, we are going to be reading Ephesians chapter 2, verses 11 thru 22. A few years back, I did a Sermon Series on the Body of Christ and our role as part of that Body. On our journey since then, we’ve been over some mountain tops in our ministry, and we’ve had our share of celebrations and success’s. But we’ve also crawled thru some valleys along the way, and at times faced some harsh realities about the commitment of the people that make up our congregation, and our commitment of us individually as being part of the Church. Last week we really had a great service. It was a great time for us, as we had the largest Confirmation group in our Churchs history. And I got to thinking as each of those Youth stood up here, they profess their faith. Some of them were baptized. Others re-affirmed their baptism. The majority of them became Professing Members of the United Methodist Church as well as Members of our Local Congregation, and all of this really got me thinking about how disconnected we are these days to our vows, our covenants, and to our commitments that we make, and we have, by being part of Christs Church, as being part of the Body of Christ. And so today & for the next four weeks, we are going to revisit this Series, & once again focus on being One in Christ and remember our role as Members of the Church and of the Body. Here in Ephesians, the Apostle Paul is writing to the Church in Ephesus, and he is explaining to them that because of the cross, because of what Christ has done, the barrier has now been overcome and that Gentiles can now be reconciled as One, and part of the Body of Christ. So lets listen closely, as we read our scripture for today Ephesians chapter 2, verses 11 - 22.
