Please turn with me in your Bibles today to the New Testament Gospel of Luke. For todays scripture, we are going to be reading Luke chapter 16, verses 19 thru 31. For the past few weeks we have been revisiting an old Sermon Series I did a few years ago, on being One in the Body of Christ, and we’ve been learning about our role as Christians as we make up part of that Body. In the Methodist Church we have a vow that we take and a commitment that we make ensuring our faithfulness to participate in the Church and its ministries with our Prayers, our Presence, Our Gifts, Our Service, and 2 years ago the Methodist Conference added to that Our Witness. Over the last 4 weeks, we talked about our Prayers, Presence, Gifts, & Service and today, we are going to wrap up this series, as we talk about our Witness. Id like to begin in the Gospel of Luke, and here in chapter 16, Jesus is telling the disciples, and the world, a true story about an eternal place of punishment called Hell. Folks, Im here today to tell you that this place is very real, and as Christians we need to be alert and aware, and we need to be warning others and doing whatever we can to prevent people from going there! The scripture we are about to read is deep. When you read this story it calls for your attention. Thru this passage, we come to grips on the importance of our Witness. So lets listen closely, as we read our scripture for today, Luke chapter 16, verses 19 - 31.
