Sermon 10-26-2008

  • Rev. Al Warrick
  • 13 listens

Introduction. Today is the last in our series of sermons on “Walking with the Apostles.” These messages have reminded us that these men whose lives and names have gone down in history as the inner circle of the greatest teacher that ever lived were normal people with a tremendous opportunity. Opportunity is something that we all have. I am truly amazed at how some people take advantage of opportunity while others squander their chances to make a difference in the World. Sometimes we might get a chance to do something again to make amends. Illus> Somebody asked Winston Churchill one time what most prepared him to lead Great Britain through WW2? This was Churchill"s response: "It was the time I repeated a class in grade school." The questioner said, "You mean you flunked a grade?" Churchill said, "I never flunked in my life. I was given a second opportunity to get it right." The apostle that we have read about today didn"t get a second chance to get it right. He made the mistake of turning against the one that had given him life and an opportunity for eternal life. The question that we have to ask today is this; why did Judas sin against Jesus? The obvious answer is in verse three of our scriptures today; “Then Satan entered Judas.” When we allow sin to enter our lives there is a great price to pay. I would like for us to examine sin and its relationship to us as we walk with Judas through this episode. This morning I would like to reveal three characteristics of sin.
