Have you ever had a hard time convincing someone of the truth of what you were trying to tell them? For some people seeing is believing; they will only believe things that they can see for themselves. They're what we might call skeptics. Thomas was a famous skeptic, one who doubted the words of the other disciples, who said that they had seen the risen Jesus. Thomas would not believe, until he saw Jesus alive with his own eyes and had the opportunity to touch His hands and His side.
