This weekend we get to sing along with Simeon the fourth song of Christmas - the Nunc Dimittis. This famous Latin phrase ("Now Oh Lord") refers to Simeon, the watcher, who can leave his assigned post because the anticipated event of watching for the Messiah has finally been fulfilled. In this passage Luke is answering the question, "Is Jesus really qualified to be the Messiah, our Savior?" Luke makes a very strong case for Jesus being the one every human being should put their faith and trust in. Such a question is critical for our culture to understand!
