The two things that will precede Christ's coming, according to 2 Thessalonians 2, are apostasy and the appearing of the man of lawlessness. The beginnings of these were already occurring as Paul writes his letter. In view of this, Paul, in our text 2 Thess. 2:13-17, commands the church to “stand firm”. But, notice what God provides to enable his people to stand firm. 1. Stand firm with gratitude for Gods sovereign love (verses 13-14) 2. Stand firm in the teachings of Gods Word (verse 15) 3. Stand firm in the blessing of Gods strength (verses 16-17).
