God breaks His people over their sin before he builds them up in His mercy. Sin has direct consequences but it also has serious side effects like those of harding hearts and quieting God's voice to our ears. God's grace is the only agent that can work in us to confess sin, repent, and revive our hearts in the truth of God's loving faithfulness to His people.
