My name is Josh Owens and my wife Jess and I are members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, of Summerville, GA, where Brother Brian Durden is our great pastor! This is our site, where you can find our 30-minute, weekly radio broadcast! We'll also periodically, be posting messages from other preachers, which I'm sure will be a help and blessing to you! Pastor, if the LORD puts it on your heart for us to come to your church to preach and sing, please don't hesitate to contact us! Our desire is to see sinners saved and saints strengthened, by being in God's will, going where He opens the door.
Doctrinal Statement of Faith
1. Salvation
Salvation is a work of God and not of man. The Bible states that; "All
have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) And;
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "For by grace are ye
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph. 2:8,9)
Christ died once for all and wants all men to be saved. A man cannot
work his way to heaven but must call upon God through faith, asking
Him for the gift he cannot earn. The Holy Ghost uses the Word of God
to convict a man of his sinful condition and his inability to help
himself. When he confesses with his mouth the Lord Jesus (Jesus as
Lord) and believes in his heart unto righteousness-----Romans
10:9,10---(turning from his own sinful way unto Christ and the way of
righteousness), he is born-again, a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17). He now
has eternal life. What God does, He does eternally. Once you have been
saved, no man can pluck you out of the Father's hand (John 10:28,29).
Those who have been born-again are sealed unto the day of redemption
(Eph. 4:30).
2. Scriptures
We believe that the King James Bible is God's preserved Word for
English speaking people today. The Bible is the inspired, preserved
Word of God and is the final authority in every area of our life and
our instruction to live by. (2 Tim. 3:16,17) (Psalm 119:89, 105, 160)
It is free from error, contradiction or omission. All other versions
(perversions) are imitations and counterfeits.
3. Sanctuary
We believe that the Church is a called-out assembly by God. Born-again
Believers identify themselves with a local, visible body (the Church)
by profession of faith and believer's baptism (immersion). The Church
has a responsibility to the saints in preaching and teaching
(discipleship) as well as fellowship and bearing one another's
burdens. The Church has a responsibility to the sinner by Soul-winning
and World missions.
Christ is the head of the Church with the Pastor being the
Under-Shepherd. The Pastor and deacons, as well as those in positions
of leadership, are held to a high standard of holiness, as laid out in
the Scriptures; (1 Timothy chapter 3, Titus 2:1-8, 1 Peter 5:1-3) as
they are set forth as examples before the people. Members of the
Church are expected to have a godly testimony both in, and outside of
the Church.
4. Separation
God has called each of His children to live holy, separated lives (1
Peter 1:13-16,
2 Cor. 6:14-18). Separated from sin and the world and separated unto
God. This involves the inside;(thoughts, attitudes, motives) as well as
the outside; (dress, talk, places you go, things you abstain from). The
body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and we are not our own but are
bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:19,20). If any man love the world, the
love of the Father is not in him (1 John 2:15-17.)
